On the 14th December we held our annual Presentation Evening. At the event we celebrated the superb achievements of our GCSE and A level students and many school prizes were awarded. This included for the first time the ‘Aldous Trophy’ for Chemistry which was given to 6th Form student Bertie Zuercher. The award was kindly donated by Mrs Ingrid Airey who presented it with Dr Dixon.

Magdalen College School held its annual Christmas Carol Service on Wednesday 13th December 2017. We would like to thank everyone who attended and hope you all had a wonderful evening, enjoying the carols, readings and the very talented MCS Chapel Choir whose repertoire included Palestrina Matin Responsory, Rutter Gaelic Blessing and Darke In the Bleak Midwinter . We were very honored to see a full chapel.

Big congratulations to the friends of Magdalen College School and all the staff and pupils who supported the garden reunion party. It was a really lovely afternoon and the Jazz band were brilliant. Over £900 which was raised which is absolutely amazing!! It was a really informative and interesting afternoon, with many old pupils returning who hadn’t visited since the 1960’s!

It was wonderful to see a good attendance at Chapel for annual OBs service of remembrance. The Head Girl and Head Boy read the names of the fallen from WW1, WW2 and conflicts since. The chapel choir then sang the hanting melody of John Rutter A Gaelic Blessing. Many thanks to all who attended.

A 1980’s disco reunion was held in our Waynflete Hall. Over 500 people attended, most of whom were ex-students who had come together from all over the world to reunite again. Special guests were the famous Adamski and ex-teacher Steve Cushing returned to the DJ booth. The organisers also held an auction which raised £1,821, auctioning off 1980 pop memorabilia donated by such acts as Coldplay, Heaven 17, Erasure, ABC (to name but a few). The auctioneer for this was Mark Stacey from Bargain Hunt. An astonishing £10,000 overall was raised for Rehabilitation Programmes at EVE Refuge in Northampton, their chosen charity. Credit goes to Jenny Laughlin, Kelly Gavanagh, Liese Coates, Richard Pearce, Richard Cooper, Chris Saggers, Jason Timms, Heather B Wood, Karen Jackson, Kiel Shaw and our ex-students for organising and hosting this fantastic event! A brilliant outcome for everybody involved!
